From Dorian to Dignity: A Caribbean Youth Framework for Reparatory Climate Finance in Small Island Developing States

This essay argues that breaking the Caribbean’s debt-climate trap requires more than conventional debt restructuring. It requires reparatory climate finance that recognises climate-induced debt as a continuation of historical injustice, enacting the CARICOM Reparations Commission’s 10-Point Plan to frame climate-induced borrowing as reparations owed. This paves the way for true economic sovereignty under the Caribbean Emancipation 2030 Framework and is called the Dorian-to-Dignity Framework. Its purpose is straightforward: to take the science of who caused this crisis and turn it into the legal and financial architecture of who must pay for it.
